Join us as we kayak the Little Muskegon River. The paddle will start at Daggett Rd. Bridge over the river and go to The Driftwood Bar & Grill on the north shore of Croton Pond. It's been a long time since we did this section of river. The last mile or so will be across Croton Pond so it will be lake paddling, with a possibility of headwinds and small waves. Also be aware that there will be trees along the river to paddle around and possibly even portage.
A little information about the Little Muskegon is as follows: Parts of the river flows through the Manistee National Forest. The river averages 1 to 3 feet in depth with a bottom of mixed sand, gravel and stones. The river flows at a moderate clip past shorelines lined with pines and hardwoods.
This is about a 4.5 hour paddle. The shuttle will be leaving Dagget Rd Bridge at 10:15 AM, with the idea of having paddles in at 11:00 AM. Parking at Daggett road can be difficult, so you could be unloading on the shoulder of the road so please be careful!
There is very limited parking at each end so I am limiting this trip to 12 paddlers. If you can arrange to ride with someone else to the put in it would help a lot.
