After a break that has extended for too long, it's time to go hiking! For our first outing of 2021, let's visit Jones Hill in the Hoffman Notch Wilderness near Schroon Lake. I explored this small mountain earlier this spring and was tremendously impressed. It is reached by a partially-completed trail that has been cut out but not signed or marked -- most people would never know it's even there. The summit of Jones Hill is only about 1880 feet in elevation, but it is quite the rambling route to get there.
During the course of the day we'll also enjoy visits to nearby Big Pond and North Pond.
