Peaked Hills Bushwhacking Adventure

With Adirondack Wilderness Explorers

Sat, Sep 25 • 9:00 AM

The Peaked Hills are a collection of foothills on the eastern slopes of Hoffman Mountain, near Schroon Lake, NY. Although I have been exploring this area quite a bit this year, I have been saving these twin summits for a nice fall day... and I have posted the trip here in case anyone wishes to join me!

This will be an off-trail adventure... sort of. There are no marked hiking trails in this vicinity, although a decent unmarked footpath does lead close to the mountains via Seventeenth Brook. In the spirit of all the best AWE adventures, this one will take us into an area few people have seen. We will begin at a pedestrian tunnel under the Northway and then follow some old logging roads until there is nothing left to follow. There are some gorges and waterfalls on Seventeenth Brook, but our focus will be the summits. From what I've seen in photos posted by other people, the views will be quite nice!

If you are up to a rather strenuous day on some small-ish mountains, then join us for this exploration of the Hoffman Notch Wilderness!
