This is one of my regular rides and I'm going to stick to the format where I REVERSED the old route so that we are in West Bay and Helmet City when the shop is actually open. I'll also include the extra roads we did in Exmoor as they were [quote from a member] "as good as Wales". Finally, I've chosen some lighter snacks for lunch stops as we have big meals every evening and these don't need booking or pre-ordering.
Please read ALL of the details below ESPECIALLY the accommodation stuff as you will need to book your own hotel rooms.
Please read the "Important Information" pages (on the right). Lack of knowledge of what's in these links will mean you won't be allowed to join the ride.
To join this ride you must commit to all 3 days (no leaving before Lunch on Monday, there's too big a wait list for part timers 😊) and you must be able to use WhatsApp.
Progress Focused Event
These events are for members who have already attained their Corner marker System Qualification. For more information on what a Progress Focused Event is, please click on Event Types Explained in the Important Information section on the right.
To ensure group safety and enjoyment, this group will be vetted by the ride leader for the purpose of familiarity with the Corner marker System and group riding experience. Please RSVP and await confirmation from organizer. Please wait for confirmation from me (Nick) before booking any hotels.
Ride Pace (Important for those not familiar with BikeRNick rides)
This is not a race. At the front I will not be exceeding the posted speed limit. If you are directly behind me, don't expect to go any faster. If you have marked a corner and want to catch me up, that's your prerogative as long as you are considerate to other road users and don't bring the club's name into disrespect (i.e. riding like a dick). If you are not one of the "fast" ones, stick to a speed YOU are comfortable with - there is no pressure to "keep up". It's my responsibility as ride leader to slow down if I need someone behind me to mark a corner. If you don't want to go as fast as others, no problem, but do watch your mirrors and move over to let people through.
Performance Focused Rides
I lead these exactly the same as all my rides, no faster at the front. However on these rides I want everybody to be at around the same level so I will use feedback from ride leaders of other rides you've been on to determine your suitability.

3 day ride down to and around Devon’s north coast and a tiny bit of Cornwall, taking in Exmoor, Dartmoor, Dorset’s coastline and the New Forest. There will also be a stop a Helmet City if you want to do some shopping.
Day #1
We will leave EG Tongham Farnham Service Station after the briefing at 09:00 and head down a mixture of major A roads and twisty B roads, through the New Forest and passing Corfe Castle just before we arrive at the Orchard Cafe for lite lunch. After lunch we continue along the coast road to West Bay for ice creams and Motorcycle kit browsing in Helmet City.
The last leg takes us through the Blackdown Hills to Taunton where we will stay in the Travelodge (or a local hotel of your choosing). Do not book breakfast as we'll be going to McDonalds at 08:30 the next day for that.
Dinner is booked for 8pm.
Day #2
After breakfast at McDonalds we ride through Exmoor National Park (including the famous Porlock Hill) and into Lynmouth for a break and an ice cream. Then we ride back and forth a couple of times across Exmoor (the "as good a Wales" bit) before following the coast west and south for a lite lunch at Exmoor Zoo. After lunch we head south for 50 miles and then turn east and ride through Dartmoor National Park and stop at the now infamous East Dart Hotel for a paddle in the stream.
The last leg takes us to Whiddon Down Travelodge and dinner is booked at 7:30pm in the Post Inn a 5 minute walk down the road.
Day #3
Get on the bikes and ride to breakfast at the Louise Tea Rooms (a popular biker meeting spot). Once our stomachs are full, zip around the edge of Dartmoor and cross it again using some roads from RiDE magazine. We leave Dartmoor and head to the Jolly Roger Lifesize Models. It's hard to explain what this place is so check out the video from 2024. Finally we head east and back towards London. "Proper" lunch is booked at The Cranberry Farm. The ride should eventually get to the A34 services Newbury RG20 9BX from where you can make your own way home. It's 12 minutes to the M4 or 24 minutes to the M3 from there.
Book this early to get the best rates. The main focus of activities (start\end of rides, dinner etc) will be the Travelodge car park. Please complete the spreadsheet when you have booked your accommodation. If you want to share, add a note in the spreadsheet against your hotel details and wait for someone to contact you..
You can of course provide your own accommodation as long as you are on time at the start point each day. To help you decide please note the following
· Saturday evening – Table booked at the Hankridge Arms (TA1 2LR)
· Sunday Morning – Breakfast at McDonalds
· Sunday evening – Table booked at The Post Inn (EX20 2QT)
· Monday morning – Breakfast at Louis Tea Rooms (PL17 8AX)
- Monday Lunch - Booked at The Cranberry Farm (EX5 7FN)
NOTE: Last year a number of people stayed at the Fox & Hounds but the taxi fare to\from dinner didn't make it massively cheaper than the Travelodge (it's a 15-20 minute drive away)
***Deposit***
Due to previous years where people have dropped out at the last minute and caused me a lot of extra work re-arranging table bookings and having to pay for pre-ordered meals I now require a £22 deposit from everyone. £20 of this will be returned to you when you arrive at Tongham Farnham Service Station on Friday. The other £2 will be used for group parking at Lynmouth. Please make the payment to First Direct Bank (HSBC), Account 62196182, SortCode 40-47-65, Nicholas Daniels, and use reference “Moors”. Thanks
