On this paddle, we'll start in the daylight but end in the dark. Assuming clear skies, we'll get to experience the sunset at 9:03 pm & then the moonrise at 9:26 pm.
We will first explore Lake of the Isles & then paddle into Bde Maka Ska. We'll then paddle back by the put-in which will total about 3 miles. Paddlers can decide to end their trip there or continue on to Cedar & Brownie Lakes & back for an additional 2 miles.
Here's the route we did in 2021 that was 5 miles and took us 2.5 hours.
Please plan on arriving by 8pm. We'll unload our boats & plan on hitting the water at 8:15 pm.
Boat Light: Part of the charm of paddling in the dark is not having any bright lights. I recommend having a unobtrusive light such that others can see your boat, but doesn't ruin the night paddling ambiance. Small kayak red and green lights are one option. Here's one on Amazon. They easily attach to your carrying handles or kayak rigging.
