Just getting into rock climbing? Come learn the essential skills to join a club cragging session or to get out with your more experienced friends. Over the course of two days you will learn:
Top rope belaying skills
How to set up a top rope anchor where you can walk around to the top
How to clean an anchor and lower off
How to rappel (if time)
Max 3 participants per instructor. Please note that participants will be screened for this course. Once you are accepted into the course, groups.place will send you a notification and you will be able to pay your course fees through the app.
The ACC is an inclusive, beginner-friendly group that strives towards providing access to all humans. Discrimination or harassment of any kind will not be tolerated. Individuals who express discriminatory behaviours will be removed from the course.
Dates: Saturday and Sunday . Please arrive by 9:00am. We will end lessons around 4:30pm and aim to be back in the parking lot by 5pm.
Cost: $75 per person. Please pay your registration fees through Groups Place upon acceptance into the course. Note that course fees are non-refundable and non-transferable except in extreme circumstances. If cost is a barrier, please contact the ACC Squamish, at executive@accsquamish.ca. Course fees are waived for active ACC-SQ volunteers.
Prerequisites: General fitness and a supportive attitude - no rock climbing experience necessary!
Required Gear: Please review the gear list carefully to ensure that you have all the necessary gear for the course. Climb On provides 30% discount on rental gear including harnesses, shoes and helmets to ACC members.
Note: All ACC courses are led by volunteer instructors. While our instructor team is knowledgeable and experienced, we are not professional guides. The course fees are use to support volunteer training and development, purchase club gear, and support the general operations of the club. We understand that there are many barriers to participating in this event. We want to reduce those barriers as much as we can. Please let us know what we can do to help
