As most of you know, I volunteer at the Kenosha Literacy Council teaching English. Every summer we have an "Adventure Awaits" class where we do fun things in the community. Kayaking is always a favorite adventure, but the pricing and logistics of rentals is getting a little out of hand. So we need your help.
If you can join us and have a spare kayak (and PFD!), that would be great. Having members of KO on the water with the students would be great for conversation and to help them get accustomed to kayaking.
There are 10 students currently enrolled, but most weeks we see about 6. Unfortunately, that means we have to plan for a full class, but it's highly possible that all the extra boats won't be used. The students will meet at KLC at noon and I can have the coordinator call me as they are leaving so we know how many boats to have ready for them. The coordinator and maybe even the director might want to join us if we have enough boats for everyone. I can probably provide spots for 3 or 4 people.
You are welcome to join us even if you can't provide a spare boat, but those who can, please indicate in the comments how many boats you will be able to bring.
We will hold the following week, June 20, as a rain date.

The boat launch is on the northeast side of Prairie Springs Park. The best entrance is on Hwy H (88th Ave.) just north of 95th Street.
If you enter Prairie Springs Park from Hwy 165, turn left and circle the lake clockwise until you get to the end of the road; this is where the boat launch is.
