We enjoy doing outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, and kayaking. Generally speaking, the "silent sports".
Our most popular event is the Wednesday night hike/headlamp hike. We do it all year round. From late fall until early spring it is dark during the evening, but that doesn't stop us. We wear headlamps (or carry flashlights) and make our way through the forest. It's especially enjoyable when there is snow on the ground or in the trees. In the summer, you will often find us at the Petrifying Springs Biergarten after our hike.
In the summer, we generally have a standing kayak event on Tuesday evenings and a standing bike ride on Sunday mornings.
Other things we've been known to do: Ice skating, skiing, snowshoeing, mountain biking and rollerblading.
Some favorite places we kayak: Lake Andrea, Root River (above and below the dam) and Lake Michigan when conditions are right.
Some favorite places we bike: from Petrifying Springs to Wind Point or down to Zion; White River Trail; Des Plaines River Trail ("DPR"); and The McClory Bike Path. We have also been known to trek up to the Oak Leaf Trail in Milwaukee County. When we bike off-road, Bong State Park is a favorite place.
